Did you know that the Clerk of the Circuit Court is responsible for more than 1,000 functions dictated by state and local laws, court rules and regulations that ensure a fair and accountable justice system?
Whether it be birth, death, marriage, divorce or property and court records, all residents of Hillsborough County will interact with the Court system at one time or another. That’s why it’s so important that the person we elect has the experience and integrity to preserve and protect the public trust. I am committed to building a more efficient and effective system to serve you.
My vision for modernizing the Clerk’s office includes:
- Partnering with the community and with system stakeholders (law enforcement, the State Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender, etc.), to develop an integrated system that provides for secure electronic access to appropriate information and data.
- Establishing a Self-Help Center in the court offices that provides high quality legal assistance and expand outreach to underserved communities.
- Implementing best practices from other circuits to diversify and expand our pool of qualified jurists.
This plan builds on my years of experience as a County Commissioner, where I was involved with refining County systems and services routinely accessed by taxpayers.
